What should you know about dental crowns?

A crown is used to cover a damaged, misshapen or severely discolored tooth. If you’re tired of covering up your smile or chewing on one side, a crown might be right for you. Here are a few things to note:

  1. There are many types of dental crowns (porcelain, stainless steel, etc.). We’ll help determine what works best for you.
  2. Installing a crown usually takes more than one visit – the first for your evaluation and the tooth impression, the second for the permanent placement of the tooth.
  3. As with any tooth, it’s important to take proper care of the crown. It’ll take a bit for it to feel normal, but it should look and function well over time – with proper care.
